Israeli government have accused Shakir, a US citizen, of supporting the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) motion in opposition to Israel's military occupation of the West bank and constructing of illegal Jewish settlements on Palestinian land.

"Israeli government ought to attention on ending their serious human rights abuses as opposed to muzzling groups reporting on them."
